Hi All,
When thor broke a couple weeks ago and was virtualized, the base Linux
distribution was changed from an older Gentoo release to a current
Debian release. The migration appeared to have gone without any problems
except for Apache which was configured slightly differently between the
two distributions.
Whereas the stock Apache from apache.org that was compiled on Gentoo was
running as the 'svn' user to have access to local subversion
repositories, Debian chooses to have Apache run as the 'www-data' user.
Having changed permissions on the svn repositories to allow the www-data
user access all appeared to be working, except for the annoying lack of
commit messages to fluid mailing lists.
It turns out that each list (design-commits, and commits) were setup to
only accept svn commit messages from svn at thor.atrc.utoronto.ca, which is
as Jess pointed out, is not where mail is coming from now. So, both
lists have now been updated to reflect the different Apache username,
and commit messages should be flowing again.
tl;dr Added www-data username to authorized users allowed to post to the
commits and design-commits mailing lists.
Regards, Jamon
