> Hi,
> Next month, during the break between terms, CNS will upgrade
> Macromedia Breeze 5.2 to Adobe Connect Pro 7. This is a major
> upgrade. For those of you wondering, yes, there was a Connect
> version 6.0. That version added very little additional functionality
> and was mostly an exercise to re-brand the Macromedia product.
> Connect Pro 7, now part of the Adobe Acrobat family of projects,
> brings a number of new features and feature enhancements that will
> be of interest to the community . Here are just three:
> - Recordings -- you will now be able to edit recordings as well as
> move them from the server to a CD or Web site. You will also be able
> to now edit an download recordings made Breeze after the upgrade.
> - Audio -- audio is now separate from video, so you can now select
> to have just audio with no video. The "Camera and Voice" pod is no
> longer part of the default layout and is no longer required just to
> broadcast audio to your audience. By separating the audio it is now
> possible to "pass the mic."
> - Breakout Rooms -- now you can create breakout rooms within a
> meeting room to use during the meeting. The breakout rooms function
> as separate entities with their own audio, video, and layouts.
> Participants are automatically promoted to Participants when
> entering a breakout room so they will have access to all of the pods
> and tools the Host has made available to them. Content from the
> breakout rooms can be shared with the entire group in the main
> meeting room.
> We'll be sending additional information soon about new features and
> changes in application functionality. Almost all content will
> continue to function as it does now, so the upgrade will be
> transparent to most users. Again, we'll be providing specific
> information about what you can expect with existing content in a
> separate email in the coming days.
> To facilitate the preparatory work required for this upgrade there
> will be a 5 hours service outage this coming Tuesday, July 29th from
> 7pm through midnight. There will be another service outage schedule
> for later in August to complete the upgrade.
